A Khayelitsha man who swallowed battery acid after allegedly killing four family members will be discharged from hospital on Monday, Western Cape police said.
Lt-Col Andre Traut said the man had been charged with four counts of murder and would appear in Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The man was admitted on Thursday morning after apparently trying to commit suicide.
He was handed over to police following the discovery of the murders in ST Block, Harare, around 1.30am on Thursday.
His wife, 29, niece, 18, and daughter, three, were sleeping in the main bedroom of their shack when he allegedly attacked and killed them.
The body of his four-year-old son was found in the kitchen after he apparently tried to escape.
A knife and a spade, possibly the murder weapons, were found on the scene.
