Mathale involved in car crash

LIMPOPO Premier Cassel Mathale has been hospitalised following a car accident.

Provincial police spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed that Mathale was involved in an accident yesterday at Ga-Sekgopo outside Modjadjiskloof en route to Polokwane.

Mathale was from an official visit to the Greater Letaba area in Tzaneen.

Mulaudzi said the vehicle Mathale was travelling in overturned after the driver lost control.

Both Mathale and the driver sustained minor injuries but were taken to hospital for observation.

Provincial government spokesman Tebatso Mabitsela confirmed that Mathale was admitted to the Polokwane Med-Clinic.

"The premier is in a stable condition at the Polokwane Medi-Clinic.

"Members of the public and the media are requested to give him time and space to recover," Mabitsela said.

ANC provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane said: "As a party, we wish him a speedy recovery."
