Traditional healer's words end in criminal act

Eight people were arrested for allegedly torching four houses in Soshanguve, after a traditional healer told them their occupants had killed one of their relatives

The five women and three men, aged between 24 and 63, were arrested on Saturday, Captain Solly Marindi said on Monday.

The unrest followed the death of a 21-old-man, who collapsed after a soccer match on Friday.

“Relatives of the deceased man visited a traditional healer. The healer allegedly showed them a mirror in which the owners of these four houses appeared.”

The relatives believed the owners were responsible for the man’s death.

“They were arrested and will soon appear in court on charges of public violence,” Marindi said.

The owners of the houses and their families were unharmed and taken to a place of safety.
