Gang of 10 found with stolen goods

Cops also seized a firearm believed to have been used in armed robberies

Ten gang members have been arrested in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, after being found with stolen goods of more than R80,000, and a firearm.

The nine men and a woman were caught when police went into the area hunting for men who had stolen shoes, said Warrant Officer Annerie Robinson.

“We raided seven houses and searched them. We discovered different gadgets including televisions, computers, cellphones and speakers,” she said.

Police also found a firearm which they believe had been used in several armed robberies committed around the area, said Robinson.

She said there had been rampant armed robberies around the area and the gang members could be linked to the criminal activities.

They are expected to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrates’ court on Wednesday.
