A terminally ill cancer patient, who was allegedly raped at a government hospital, has died
She passed away in hospital on Friday, police reported today.
Magda Lombard, 51, had been transferred by her family to a private hospital after she was reportedly raped at the National Hospital, in Bloemfontein, on October 15.
A male nurse allegedly raped her while his female colleague held her down.
The male nurse, 31, was granted bail of R1000 by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court earlier this month, and would appear in court again on December 1.
Lombard could not identify her alleged rapist’s female accomplice.
Lt-Col Annelie Wrensch said it was hoped that the results of DNA tests would be available before the man’s next court appearance.
