Juju fit and ready, says Shivambu

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has fully recovered from an illness and is looking forward to his appearance before the ANC disciplinary committee tomorrow.

That's according to ANCYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu, who told Sowetan yesterday that Malema had resumed his duties as president.

"He was addressing the youth in Khutsong yesterday, and tomorrow (Friday) he will be addressing a rally at Wits University," said Shivambu.

"We have accepted the decision of the ANC to charge us, we are not angry."

Malema was expected to appear before the ANC disciplinary committee last week, but excused himself after falling ill. He was admitted to a Polokwane private hospital.

Malema, his deputy Ronald Lamola, secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa, and his deputy Kenetswe Mosenogi, treasurer Pule Mabe and Shivambu, have been charged with bringing the ANC into disrepute and sowing divisions in the party ranks.

This is the second time that Malema has been charged for misconduct since he was elected ANCYL president in Mangaung, Free State, in 2008.

First, the ANC found him guilty of comparing President Jacob Zuma with his predecessor, Thabo Mbeki and suspended his sentence for two years.

But, 16 months later, Malema was charged again for sowing divisions in the governing party and bringing the organisation into disrepute.
