Mozambican attacked by a group of youngsters after a drinking binge at a local liquor restaurant

IN WHAT is viewed as a xenophobic attack, a Mozambican national was stoned to death at GaPhasha village outside Burgersfort in Limpopo on Monday.

The man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was attacked by a group of youngsters after a drinking binge at a local liquor restaurant.

The incident comes months after hundreds of foreigners, who work at a mine, were chased from the village by the same community.

The villagers accused the foreigners of stealing their jobs at the mine and of being behind criminal activities.

The following week a local secondary school, Ngwana-Ngwato, was set alight just a day before the local government elections.

The incensed villagers allegedly accused the school management of enrolling the children of foreigners who stole their jobs in the mine.

Limpopo police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Ronel Otto said both the suspects and the victim were earlier seen drinking at a tavern just after midnight.

"Hours later, the suspects allegedly dragged the victim to an old spaza shop where they attacked him with a barricade of stones until he died. His body was found in a pool of blood the following day by villagers who passed at the scene going to work.

"Through a tip-off, we managed to arrest two suspects and we hope to bring the other two who are still at large to book. We have opened cases of murder against them and our investigations will continue," she said.

The spokesperson for the Sekhukhune community mining committee, Biko Mphoka, said: "While we understand the plight of youths for job opportunities at the mine, we don't encourage xenophobic attacks and crime in general."

Barely a month ago, a Zimbabwean national was stoned to death in Polokwane Extension 75.

dont blame these foreigners
most of south africans are so lazy in a way that they even choose the kind of a job they want so these foreigners just accept anything that comes their way as long as theyll put bread on the table
most of our south africans are not educated but they want to live this high life
its not easy to hire a SAn to dig a pit toilet or just to do a gaderning for you but they always complain so if you are not educated dont expert a higher/professional job

Its an open play ground with more advantage to citizens than foreigners to get jobs but at the end the employer hires the hard worker. Lets stop killing our fellow African people and put more energy on bettering ourselves.

One day it will be us in their countries asking for a place to stay, because we don't know what the future holds for us, these are our brothers and sisters and it's wrong to think that they are stealing jobs from us because they are not, they are hard workers who are willing to do whatever duties they are given to them especially the ones from Mozambique or Zimababwe, ( NOT NIGERIANS ) and we South Africans are so choosy when coming to jobs.

Come on South Africans - let's have ubuntu and respect them and try to live and share what we have with them. After all we are all Africans....

This is totally wrong...it is murder not xenophobia and they should be locked up and keys thrown in the bush.
South Africans, lets not forget where we come from.It might be nice sitting in your comfort zone today but you'll never know what will happen tomorrow. If we cant do it for ourselves, lets do it for our future generations cause we seem to be heading to a banana republic so when will they run to?

There is no difference between xenphobia and racism. Black Africans claim to be equal, but hate foreigners, homosexuals etc.

Africans fought against apartheid for equality and freedom. But they dont believe foreigners, homosexuals and women are their equals. Conclusion is South African males fought for their OWN equality.
