91-year-old is accused of raping girl (11)

A 91-YEAR-OLD man will appear in the Naphuno magistrate's court today in connection with allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

The man allegedly raped the girl who had gone to spend a night at his house after a squabble with her parents.

Police said the man waited until the girl had fallen asleep, crawled into her room and raped her.

Spokesperson for the police in Limpopo, Lieutenant-Colonel Mohale Ramatseba, said the parents of the girl went to the man's house to look for their daughter after she failed to return home and found her crying.

He said the girl told her parents that the man had raped her.

"The parents took their daughter to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that she had been raped," Ramatseba said.

  • In another incident a 62-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping two 9-year-old girls between February 10 and 14 this year.

The man appeared in the Naphuno magistrate's court over the rape of one of the girls.

Soon after his court appearance on Tuesday last week the family of the other girl also opened a rape case against him.

He had allegedly raped the girls at his business premises in Lenyenye.

He is expected to appear in the same court again today on two charges of rape.

One of the girls' uncle said the man had lured the victims to one of his spaza shops and raped them.
