Two alleged hijackers were killed in a gun fight with police in Umbumbulu, south of Durban
“Two suspects were killed during a shoot-out with police on the M35 Umbumbulu Main Road between Umlazi Y and Z Sections,” Captain Thulani Zwane said.
On Thursday night the two hijacked a car in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban and robbed the owner of his jewellery.
“The Durban South K9 patrol vehicle was in the vicinity and responded to an alert for the hijacked vehicle.”
When officers saw the car, the hijackers refused to stop and a chase ensued.
“During the pursuit, the suspects opened fire at the police who returned fire. The Dodge went out of control and overturned.”
A third man got away.
