Boy (10) doesn't want to finish his food, telling his mother to give some of it to his younger brother. "He's asked that when they come out of hospital, he wants his brother and him to wear the new Kaizer Chiefs jerseys that I promised to buy them"

THE MOTHER of two young boys, one of whom died after they were allegedly attacked by her boyfriend, is too distraught to visit her surviving son in hospital.

The two boys were attacked by the mother's boyfriend on Saturday morning in Meadowlands, Soweto.

The man slit the two boys' throats with a sharp object when he found them sleeping in their mother's room.

One of the boys, Thabiso Xaba, 6, died at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on Tuesday. His 10-year-old brother is still in hospital.

Busi Xaba, 31, poured her heart out over the tragedy, saying she had been harassed by her boyfriend.

Lying on her mattress and mourning the death of her last born child, Xaba said her surviving son told her he no longer wanted to see her boyfriend.

"My son told me straight to my face that he did not want me to see my boyfriend anymore.

"He is very traumatised and angry. "

She said her son kept asking if his younger brother was recovering.

He also refused to finish his food, telling her to give some of it to his younger brother.

Xaba said her son had not been told his younger brother was dead because it was feared it would have a negative effect on his recovery.

"He told me that on the day when they are discharged from hospital he wants his brother and him to wear the new Kaizer Chiefs jerseys I promised to buy them," she said sobbing.

She said her children loved Kaizer Chiefs and her eldest son had made an album with pictures of his soccer stars.

"I don't know what to do because I had promised to buy them their favourite team's jerseys," She said.

Xaba applauded the staff at the hospital for the love and care they had shown.

"The hospital staff are very supportive and are helping my son recover emotionally and physically," she said.

It is alleged Xaba's sons were attacked by her lover after the couple argued over a cellphone call.

She said on Tuesday she agreed with doctors to have her son's life support machine switched off after she was told he had lost a lot of blood.

Police spokesperson Constable Sibusiso Chauke said the police were still searching for the suspect.
