Aurora case hits a snag

ENVER Motala has refused to testify against Aurora's directors until his bid to be reinstated as Pamodzi Gold liquidator has been heard, Solidarity says

"Motala notified... the presiding officer that [as] he still has to attend the application to be reinstated as a liquidator, he will not testify until his matter is heard in the High Court in Pretoria," the trade union said yesterday.

"This is a delaying tactic because he [Motala] was removed as a liquidator from all national panels, so he cannot be reinstated."

Motala was not immediately available for comment. He was supposed to testify in the High Court in Pretoria today. The hearing follows irregularities involving Aurora.

Motala and another liquidator were removed from the Pamodzi Gold case, and Aurora's bid for Pamodzi cancelled.

Testimony would cover Aurora's actions when it was in charge of Pamodzi Gold's mines in Grootvlei, Springs, in Gauteng, and in Orkney in the North West. The case is closed to the media.
