Hubby set alight is fighting for his life

A 52-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life after his body was doused with a flammable liquid that left him with third-degree burns

He is being treated at Mankweng Hospital in Limpopo.

The man, from Seleteng village outside Lebowakgomo, allegedly suffered the injuries during a fight with his estranged wife over the support grant for their children.

"On Saturday morning, a fierce argument allegedly started when the man visited the woman and demanded that she hand over the bank cards of their children's child support grant," police spokesperson Captain Mamphaswa Seabi said.

He said the man was reported to have become aggressive.

The woman allegedly poured the liquid over him before setting it alight.

Seabi said she had accused him of being abusive.

Seabi said the man was being treated for serious burns.

The woman was arrested and is expected to appear in the Thabamoopo magistrate's court for attempted murder.

- Also in Seleteng, police have opened an inquest docket after 92-year-old Maria Mphahlele was found dead at the entrance of her son's home on Saturday.
