A 45-YEAR-OLD male teacher and vice-principal of an affluent private school in Limpopo has been arrested for allegedly sodomising a 14-year-old pupil.
The alleged rape started in February this year after the victim, and other boys, were allegedly lured by the teacher to his house for private lessons that included sexual exploits.
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said yesterday the mother of the victim noticed there was something amiss with her son and took him to a doctor, where it was discovered the boy had contracted a sexually-transmitted disease.
"The boy confirmed that he was being sodomised by the teacher," Mulaudzi said.
He said the teacher was arrested on Sunday.
Limpopo education department spokesperson Pat Kgomo said whether the school was private or not "any criminal tendencies including rape, statutory rape, sexual harassment or abuse are against the law".
