Buthelezi praises ANC leadership

"I hope Malema will be held accountable"

IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi yesterday applauded the leadership of the ANC for summoning its youth league president Julius Malema to a DC.

Speaking at Umlazi's 17 section, a former IFP stronghold, Buthelezi said it was time the ruling party disciplined Malema for making offensive comments against respected leaders, including himself.

"Malema has hurled insults at me and other leaders and got away with it," he said. "He called me an ANC factory fault and ridiculed then minister of higher education Naledi Pandor on her accent.

"Now that he will be scrutinised by the ANC disciplinary committee I hope he will be held accountable."

Buthelezi told a large crowd that he was deeply concerned about the bloodshed that continued in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. He appealed to his party members to refrain from such activities.

He said he had called for a meeting with the leadership of the National Freedom Front to iron out their differences but was still waiting for a response.

"Lives are still being lost to violence ... Let us stop violence in our communities and turn it into a political revolution," he said.
