Malema still linked to tenders - reports

PLUS Julius Malema's fine imposed by the Equality Court was allegedly paid by a former policeman who now works for SGL

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema is still allegedly linked to a company benefiting from Limpopo tenders worth R60 million, the City Press reported on Sunday.

SGL Engineering, of which Malema used to be a registered director, was reportedly benefiting from tenders awarded to On-Point Engineers, a company in which his family trust has a stake.

According to the newspaper, On-Point’s website lists SGL as a strategic partner.

Last year, Malema claimed his signature had been forged on SGL company documents and that he had resigned as a director.

On-Point reportedly has a R51m contract with Limpopo’s roads and  transport department to manage a project management unit involved in awarding tenders to build and fix roads.

On-Point has also apparently claimed to be responsible for the construction of a road in Maseke Village and for which SGL said it was responsible during the Public Protector’s probe into the R15m project.

City Press reported that Malema’s business partner Lesiba Gwangwa, who is a director of SGL and On-Point, failed to respond to detailed questions about the role of On-Point in the projects.

Malema was again linked to SGL in a Sunday Tribune report on the  payment of a R50,000 fine imposed on him by the Equality Court. It was allegedly paid by a former policeman who now worked for SGL.
