R50,000 reward for Sibiya killing info

ALMOST a month after his death, a R50,000 reward has been posted for the arrest and conviction of the killers of ANC eThekwini regional secretary Sibusiso Sibiya.

Sibiya was gunned down at his house in Inanda, north of Durban, on July 11 by unknown attackers, and members of the Organised Crime Unit from Cato Manor were tasked to investigate the murder.

To date, however, his killers have not been found, prompting police to plead for the community's assistance.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Phindile Radebe said: "Police have exhausted all possible leads that were uncovered during the investigation, with negative results.

"Any person who has information on the identity or whereabouts of those responsible for the murder is requested to contact the investigators because we want to apprehend those responsible for the murder. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence".

Anyone with information is requested to contact Brigadier Simon Madonsela on 082-567-4148 or Lieutenant-Colonel Willie Olivier on 082-772-2341 or Captain Dumi Hlongwa on 079-500- 0795.

Sibiya was returning from an ANC meeting when he was ambushed at his driveway and shot. He died when he was being rushed to a local clinic.
