The groceries were used for the feeding scheme programme..

The boys aged between 14 and 17,  allegedly broke into the offices of Ndoda Combined School on Wednesday night, said Constable  Mmapitso Aphane.

Aphane said teachers became aware of the break-in when they arrived at school on Thursday morning.

“One of the teachers suspected a 16-year-old pupil and they immediately went to his home with the police.

“When the teenager saw them entering the yard, he dashed out through the back gate and ran away.”

Police gave chase and finally caught him, she said.

The boy allegedly confessed to the crime and led police to his room, where they found several tins of food and a computer.

Aphane said the teenager then pointed out his three alleged accomplices and led police to their homes.

The other pupils also tried to run away when they saw police arriving at their homes. They were caught and police found more food and two computers.

The four were charged with house breaking and theft, as well as the possession of suspected stolen property.
