Brothers die in love triangle fight

A LOVE triangle ended tragically when a Limpopo man allegedly stabbed two Mpumalanga brothers to death over a girlfriend

The incident happened at Extension 10 in Burgersfort on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said the two brothers Patrick Gilbley, 34, and Pieter Gilbley, 44, went to the man's shack and found him sleeping with a woman at about 2.50am.

Ramatseba said the two forcibly entered the shack, stabbed the man in the head with a knife. The woman escaped unhurt.

He said the 31-year-old man managed to grab the knife and stabbed the two brothers. One of them was stabbed in the head and the other in the chest.

"The one stabbed in the chest died instantly, while the other one was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to the Lydenburg Hospital, where he died," he said.

"It is alleged the suspect had a love affair with the woman who was in love with one of the brothers," Ramatseba said.

The man, who was treated and discharged at Dilokong Hospital, is expected to appear in court today on murder charges.
