Cases of 2 'most wanted' postponed

TWO suspects on South Africa's most wanted list, and three others who allegedly aided and abetted them, have had their cases postponed by various Gauteng courts

Colonel Neville Malila said the two most wanted - Khumbulani Sibanda, 37, and his cousin, Thabane Sibanda, 32, known as Ogies - appeared in the Pretoria magistrate's court alongside another arrested suspect, Leon Ncube, 28.

They were all charged with bank robbery. Their case was postponed to May 17 for further investigation.

At the Vosloorus magistrate's court, Regret Chapanduka, 27, known as Rasta, appeared on charges of aiding and abetting criminals. His case was also postponed to May 17 for a formal bail application.

Arrested correctional officer, Henry Moloto, who is suspected of allegedly assisting awaiting-trail prisoners, Bongani Mojo and Sibanda, escape from a Boksburg prison, appeared in the Boksburg magistrate's court on Tuesday.

He was charged with aiding and abetting prisoners to escape. His case was postponed to May 16 for a formal bail application.

All would remain in custody at a high-risk prison till their next court appearances, Malila said.

Meanwhile police were still searching for two other suspects, Mojo and Victor Baloyi.

Baloyi is wanted in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery and murder allegedly committed last August outside Pretoria.

Mojo, 29, has been linked to at least 35 bank robberies since 2006. His latest alleged hit was at the Absa bank at the Monument Park shopping centre in Pretoria last Thursday.

Sibanda and Ogies were arrested at a house in Orange Grove, Johannesburg, on Sunday.
