SA, Vietnam in trade talks

SOUTH Africa will work with Vietnam to identify opportunities for increasing trade between the two countries, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe said yesterday.

"Both South Africa and Vietnam offer excellent opportunities to investors," he said after meeting Vietnamese vice-president Nguyen Thi Doan in Pretoria.

"We should encourage our business communities to link up and explore all possible avenues for co-operation and trade."

Motlanthe said there were "countless opportunities" in Vietnam, adding that that country had the best tourist destinations and historical sites.

Other areas for trade included agriculture, furniture, clothing and textile production.

Nguyen Thi Doan said she hoped their talks would deepen bilateral co-operation of both countries.
