Cele said Xolile Mngeni, who appeared alongside two co-accused in the Wynberg Regional Court, was facing "a slew of charges against him from previous cases".
"He was on bail for... murder, attempted murder, owning illegal firearms and other stuff," the SAPS chief was quoted as saying.
