Criminals be warned

KWAZULU-NATAL police have issued a strong warning to criminals and would-be criminals that they will face the full might of the law.

The warning comes after a successful operation conducted jointly by the eMpangeni intelligence unit, Esikhawini detectives and eMpangeni public order police on Saturday.

During the operation four people were arrested. Of the four two were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Both men appeared in the Esikhawini magistrate's court yesterday.

Inspector Mbongeni Mdlalose confirmed that Bongani Mthembu, 29, and Themba Dlamini, 24, were found in possession of unlicensed 9mm pistols and ammunition.

"Mthembu was also found in possession of DVDs, clothes and electrical appliances that had been reported stolen during a house robbery at Esikhawini early this month," Mdlalose said.

He said Dlamini was wanted for a house robbery last month.

"When he was arrested, he was also found in possession of a stolen TV set and two computers."

Mthembu was refused bail and his matter was postponed to Thursday for further investigations while Dlamini was granted R2000 bail.

The other two men arrested during the operations were expected to appear in court today.
