A LIMPOPO man is worried about the safety of his wife after she mysteriously disappeared from home last year.

Isaac Nkuna said his wife disappeared from their home in Mhlaba Cross village near Tzaneen on December 31 last year.

He said his wife left her phone at home on the day she disappeared and had not contacted her family about her whereabouts since then.

Nkuna, 44, said Thembi Duduzile Mnisi, his wife of 10 years, left their home for town to buy groceries for the new year's celebrations.

He said he came home to find that his two children had gone to play with other children in the village. He said Mnisi took a few pieces of clothing with her when she left.

Mnisi hails from Mbangwane village near Malelane in Mpumalanga.

"After searching for her in the village and also at her friends' places I realised she was no longer in the area," Nkuna said.

He said he also visited her parents' home but they also don't know where she is.

This was the first time his wife had disappeared from home, Nkuna said.

"I'm worried about her leaving her cellphone at home and I can't contact her to find out where she is. Neither does she contact me."

Nkuna said he worked for a construction company, far away from home, and as a result was worried about the the safety of the children.

"My children need someone who will ensure that they go to school in neat clothes - and right now there's no one doing that," he added.

Nkuna has reported the matter to the police.

Ritavi police spokesperson Inspector Seth Magadzi confirmed yesterday that they were investigating a case of a missing person and called on anyone with information regarding Mnisi's whereabouts to contact him on 082-414-2710.
