SUSPECTED Atteridgeville crime kingpin William "Mashobane" Mbatha was left frustrated yesterday when his bail hearing was again postponed.

Known as the "King of Bling", Mbatha, who is facing an assortment of charges, was scheduled to make his bid for freedom in the Germiston regional court.

Last week Tshehlo Neo Mokone, believed by the police to be Mbatha's accomplice, appeared with the super-rich suspect after being nabbed in connection with separate charges.

The pair are facing provisional counts of kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, among other charges.

The proceedings saw a bitter showdown between Mbatha's counsel, Jack Gerber, and state prosecutor WillemienVos.

Gerber accused Vos of being malicious and vindictive by splitting Mbatha's charges on two charge sheets instead of combining them so they could be "disposed off simultaneously in the same hearing".

Gerber, a former top cop, asked the court to compel the state to combine the two charge sheets. But the court ruled in Vos' favour. The cases pertaining to the two charge sheets being postponed to November 3 and 5 respectively.
