CASTER Semenya's dream of having a big house is about to be realised.

This is after the Limpopo department of local government and housing promised to make the 800m gold medalist's dream come true.

Caster had said during a welcoming in her home town that her biggest dream was to build her grandmother a big house with an inside flushing toilet.

Soon after this the department of local government and housing announced their plan to build a house for their golden girl.

Department head, MEC Soviet Lekganyane, praised the 18-year-old celebrity for having put the province on the map.

"We are pleased to announce that our department, in conjunction with Bitline Developers, will build Semenya and her family a house," Lekganyane said.

The house will be built at Masehlong village in Moletji.

Departmental director of communications Clayson Monyela said the house would be slightly different to an RDP dwelling and would be built with a budget of between R150000 and R200000.

"Construction will start next week," said Monyela.

Premier Casel Mathale said Caster's victory would remain a symbol of hope for Limpopo and she was a role model for young athletes.

Caster could not be reached for comment, but a family member who declined to be named said she was thrilled on hearing the news.
