WHERE is the shop?

It's at 127 Pritchard Street, Johannesburg, in the fashion district.

What kind of a shop is it?

We sell retail displays, store fixtures, mannequins and various display materials and consumables.

Tell us the story behind the name of the shop.

The idea behind the name was to portray exactly what the company does. Hence, the name Display Equipment Company.

How long has the shop been open?

Fifty years and counting.

How did you get the idea to open a shop like this?

I was recruited into the business.

Are there any other branches of your shop?

Yes, we have a branch in Glendower and in Durban.

What were you doing before?

I was an accountant.

What are your future plans?

We support the revitalisation projects that are taking place in central Johannesburg. Our business is not a passing trade retail type shop.

We strive to use our showroom as a place where people can meet and find what they're looking for. - Andrea Nagel
