Jackie Chan's new action comedy sequel Rush Hour 3 is facing release difficulties in his native country because it's been branded "fundamentally anti-Chinese".

The Hong Kong-born actor's film has prompted controversy over a scene in which a family involved in organised crime visit Paris. The association with Triad gang members has reportedly angered Chinese authorities, according to Variety Asia.

Only 20 foreign releases a year are permitted in China, and Rush Hour movie makers fear their's may not make the cut. But China's Film Bureau insist the film has not been banned. The organisation has the power to demand further editing of films considered offensive - as it did with the unflattering portrayal of Chow Yun-Fat's pirate character in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End earlier this year. - Wenn
