Yulia Yadryshnikova creates dress for capsule collection from designer sofa cover

Fashion and furniture have always shared a fluid boundary, but Russian designer Yulia Yadryshnikova's latest capsule collection really drives the point home.

The fashion designer has created a dress from the cover of Luca Nichetto's Stanley sofa for De La Espada, unveiled as part of the NYCxDesign festival in New York.

Re-interpreted using the same upholstery fabric as the Stanley sofa, the garment has been given a "structural" look, featuring sharp silhouettes and origami-esque folds and tucks.

Featuring a striking contrasted colorway, the versatile piece can still be used as a sofa cover.

The collection also features two coats made using the same material as the sofa covers, and three dresses inspired by childhood memories.

Madrid-based Yadryshnikova is a pattern maker and fashion designer who works in collaboration with fashion designers in addition to developing her own capsule collections.

Italian designer Nichetto has worked with brands including Salviati and Foscarini, and his collection for De La Espada first launched in Stockholm in February this year.
