But Bonang, what was that at the Durban July?

The biggest annual horse race event that generally have the most extravagant marquees filled with entertainers, good food and great company somewhat disappointed this year.

Miller Boomtown seemed like one of the few entertainers to hold down the Durban July event over the weekend with three marquees Peroni, 5FM and Vuzu entertainment invading the experience where popular US Rapper 2 Chainz entertained a full crowd with his performance.

The US birthday singer arrived Thursday and performed in Johannesburg Thursday night at a secret venue where a crowd was invited, gathered to see 2 Chainz perform.

On Saturday night he gave a mind blowing performance. The rapper calls himself the best hip hop artist in the US.

“I am the illest hip hop rapper in the US and they know it,” he said.

Vibrant media personality, Bonang Matheba made an appearance at the Miller Boomtown in time for US rapper's performance, was spotted screaming and running for her lover Euphonik with whom they claim to have broken off their relationship following several court fights over allegations of abuse by the 5FM DJ.

She ran for her man screaming ‘yoh nangu umuntu wami. Umuntu wami’ (there’s my man) as she approached him, the hottest media girl in SA sealed her words with a kiss.

“I missed you so much baby, I am going where you going,” she said.

Euphonik seemed happy to be kissing Miss B.

However Euphonik who dressed like a typical DJ rocking a pair of jeans and a shirt says there was little excitement about the July.

“More than having fun, this is stressful. I am here to work and people are disorganized not even 2 Chainz excites me because I saw him perform on Thursday, I just want to work and leave,” he said.

Matheba who is usually secretive about her relationship did not refuse to have a picture taken together with her on and off boyfriend Euphonik.

Could this be a confirmation that the couple never ended their relationship?

Hopping from one marquee to the next, it was interesting to see the first time marquee by Kalawa Jazzmee looked like a total flop.

Throughout the day, the marquee that promised live performances had an empty stage. Errrkay.....

Dr Malinga said: “There is nothing much going on in here and I have not seen the other performers.”

Kalawa’s spokesperson Nomndeni Mdhakhi said artists haven’t arrived yet.

“There is no one to interview at the moment because the artists are still on the way.”

Mtv Base marquee entertained the crowd with performances from SA’s hottest DJ Black Coffee, singer and dancer DR Malinga, kwaito star Proffessor and Mafikizolo who gave an epic performance.

Durban's record company Afrotainment and Metro FM marquee could not match up to the standards of other marquees.

Despite the entertainment, food, and Bonang's love interest in Euphonik, the horse racing event was a muddy July. The number of ladies ended up walking bare feet. People were sliding with their dresses and heels getting stuck in heels. Hilarious!
