Hunting criminals

IT IS back to reality now and television viewers are keen to know what is new on the box.

Those interested in action do not have to look further than SABC3 for a new show from January 10. It's called Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

This popular companion series of the award-winning Law & Order franchise stars Vincent D'Onofrio as Robert Goren of the NYPD's major case squad. He is hellbent on getting inside the minds of the city's worst criminals in order to bring them to book.

Check it out from Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm.

The series takes viewers into the minds of criminals, while following the psychological approach the squad uses to solve crimes.

In true Sherlock Holmes fashion D'Onofrio (Men in Black) stars as Detective Goren, an exceptionally bright homicide investigator with well-honed instincts that match up favourably with his criminal quarry.

Likewise, his partner, Detective Eames, ( Erbe, Oz ) brings an independence and stylish edge to her work that meshes well with Goren.

Detective Logan, (The Perfect Man, Sex and the City), who was exiled to Staten Island after punching a city councillor 10 years ago on Law & Order, teams with partner Detective Barek (The Sopranos), a brilliant criminal profiler who rose from Brooklyn's Cobble Hill streets to the highest ranks of the NYPD and spent two post-9/11 years with the FBI.

Julianne Nicholson joins the cast as Detective Megan Wheeler (replacing Carolyn Barek as Logan's partner) and Eric Bogosian joined as Captain Danny Ross ( Deakins' Successor ).

Theresa Randle joined as ADA Patricia Kent, (replacing Ron Carver) but only appeared in two episodes: True Love and Country Crossover.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. It is Dick Wolf's third installment of the Law & Order brand, the second-longest running drama series in the history of television.

Wolf, Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
