SELFLESS individuals and groups working in sustainable youth and community development through sport are in luck because the closing date for submissions to the Murray & Roberts Jack Cheetham Memorial Award has been extended.
The new closing date is July 30.
Essentially, this award, together with the Murray and Roberts Letsema Award, recognise, acknowledge and reward selfless, innovative and industrious achievers in youth development in memory of Jack Cheetham. He was a director of the company and captain of the South African cricket team in the 1950s.
The awards' organising, sponsoring and nation-building partners are the South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee and Sowetan , who have made the awards a part of the Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation.
To be eligible for nomination, a sports project must demonstrate a meaningful contribution to sports development and must benefit previously disadvantaged individuals.
