Hits and misses about premature ejaculation

We have all heard different stories around things to do to avoid premature ejaculation during sex.

For men especially, premature ejaculation is probably the most embarrassing act during sexual intercourse. It is somehow linked to manhood and ‘cumming’ quickly or before time, which chips away a huge chunk of that man’s ego.

It is also associated to egotism in a sense that a man who is quick to ‘cum’ ‘is not able to hold it enough to satisfy his woman’. And a man with a dampened ego is said to be ‘very sensitive’.

Some of those stories are true and others are just plain lies. We take you through them:

Masturbation before sex can make a man last longer

Truth: Masturbation before sex is often used to help free the penis of ‘cum’ and also make the penis less vulnerable to ‘cumming’. This can increase the amount of time it takes during sex.

Thinking of something unsexy will help me last longer

A lot of people believe that thinking about something that would generally be considered ‘unsexy’ will help them last longer during sex.

According to Eligible Magazine this is not true and will actually ‘diminish your pleasure and experience of sex’. Making sex less enjoyable, even for your partner as well.

Stress

It is absolutely true that stress can worsen premature ejaculation.

Premature ejaculation is only a psychological dysfunction

“ Premature ejaculation can be caused by a number of factors both psychological and physical. Stress, anxiety, medications, and health problems are just a few of the reasons why a man could have an issue,” said Eligible Magazine

Premature ejaculation affects fertility

According to TakeControl, premature ejaculation is not generally associated with infertility.

“A man with premature ejaculation can still produce healthy sperm”, the site reported.

It also said that the quality of the sperm should not be affected if the sperm is ejaculated during sex.

“However, some men with severe premature ejaculation can ejaculate prior to vaginal penetration and this could result in difficulty with conceiving children.”

Premature ejaculation is the same as erectile dysfunction

Premature ejaculation is not even related to erectile dysfunction.

“Erectile dysfunction occurs when a man has trouble maintaining an erection during sex. On the other hand, premature ejaculation is the inability to control ejaculation,” explains MensHealth.

These require different treatments.

Drinking, drugs and general self medicating helps

It does not help. Premature ejaculation require proper medical attention.

A lot of men belief that a couple of drinks and self medication can help with premature ejaculation and according to Eligible Magazine, this is very dangerous because:

- You could become sexually dependent on your “treatment” of choice and not be able to perform without it.

- These things usually CAUSE sexual dysfunction, NOT help to alleviate them.

Very few men suffer from premature ejaculation

Actually, studies suggest that at least one in three men experience premature ejaculation at some point in their life.

Premature ejaculation can’t be controlled

There are various treatments for premature ejaculation. The problem is that men do not want to admit that they have a problem and they therefore cannot get help.
