The Twenty in 20 project is an initiative aimed at identifying the best South African short stories published in English during the past two decades of democracy.

The project, launched in May saw over 200 submissions but only 20 could make the final list.

On July 21, the best stories were published on Books LIVE, which were reviewed under the auspices of the Department of Arts and Culture and the Twenty in 20 judges’ chair.
