VISUAL artist and professional photographer Guy Tillim, who is known for telling stories through his lens, continues with his passion of recording real life experiences.

In August last year, Tillim presented a series of photographs titled Second Nature Part 1 at Stevenson Gallery in Cape Town. The pictures tell a story of a small island called French Polynesia.

The series showed that French Polynesia is a windy islands that is occasionally hit by typhoons. The pictures give a perception that if you visit the island you would not enjoy yourself - there is a sense of sadness.

Tillim is back again with a second series of pictures, Second Nature, which were taken in São Paulo, Brazil. The exhibition opened on February 29 and runs until March 30 at the Stevenson Gallery. He portrays São Paulo as a peaceful city with beautiful architecture and lovely people.

In all his images he does not offer the conventional point of focus or an easily identifiable subject - which is the standard premise for photography.

Instead, he gives equal treatment to the many elements that comprise an image.

Born in Johannesburg in 1962 but lives in Cape Town, Tillim has produced various exhibitions, including Avenue Patrice Lumumba, which showed at the Stevenson Gallery in 2008.
