Ladysmith Black Mambazo nominated for another Grammy

South African male group Ladysmith Black Mambazo is nominated for yet another Grammy award.

The soul-shaking combo, renowned for their modern iscathamiya sound, is nominated in the category Best World Music Album, for their album Music From Inala featuring Ella Spira & The Inala Ensemble.

The songs on the aforementioned studio-recorded album consists of songs performed live across the United Kingdom and Moscow as part of the theatrical production Inala - A Zulu Ballet.

The group is nominated in the same category as Gilberto Gil, Angelique Kidjo, Anoushka Shankar and Zomba Prison Project.

This is Ladysmith Black Mambazo 16th nomination, winning four times through out their illustrious career – the most recent of which was in 2013.

Aside from the Grammy nomination, 2016 promises to be a big year for Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The group will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Ladysmith Black Mambazo being introduced to a worldwide audience as part of the 1986 Paul Simon album Graceland. The group plan to stage an international tour to honour this feat.

South African flautist and music composer Wouter Kellerman is also nominated in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for his record Love Language.

Kellerman won a Grammy in 2014 for his album Winds of Samsara.

Kendrick Lamar with 11 nods followed by Taylor Swift and The Weeknd with 7 nods, respectively, then Drake with 5 nods leads the nomination pack for the 2016 biggest music prize, The Grammy Awards.

The 58th annual Grammy Awards will take place on Monday, 15 February, in Los Angeles.
