Rapper K.O is on a mission to make his free concert concept a big part of the hip-hop culture. After a successful first free concert last year with Okmalumkoolkat‚ he’s back with another one featuring Kwesta and DJ Fresh.

Fresh off executing the Black Koncert — with Black Motion and Amanda Black — rapper K.O made an announcement on his social media that Cape Town was the second location to host the “thanking the fans” free concert.

“I have been in meetings from late last year to make it happen. My fans loved the idea of a free concert and after the Jo’burg one‚ I have been meaning to take it to the rest of South Africa‚” he said.

K.O said he wants the concert to be part of the culture and he would ideally love to have four annual concerts across SA.

He also said that the initial plan was to have Okmalumkoolkat as a co-headline act again but due to other commitment the Gqi hitmaker would not be available. He said that even though the concert is his “baby” he is excited that Kwesta and DJ Fresh agreed to join forces.

“Initially‚ Okmalumkoolkat and I were going to pick up where we left off‚ but he is not in the country that weekend. So I hooked up with Kwesta — who is doing great things in the industry and influences me — and he agreed to render his services. DJ Fresh also came on board‚” he said.

The Skhanda Love rapper said that although its a difficult event to pull off from a financial stand-point‚ he has amazing partnerships and sponsorships that are helping him produce quality events.

“We are hoping to make some of the profit off my merchandise as it will be sold at the event among other things. I have seen how my partners pull in a good crowd and with the acts which include Kwesta‚ DJ Fresh and DJ Vigilante‚ we are hoping for 10 000 attendees‚” he said.

The concert will take place on April 30 at Groova Lounge and Kwa Ace in Cape Town and entrance is free.
