The show that has kept South Africans glued to their small screens because of its juicy gossip, is a year-old.

Trending SA focuses on the latest topics, politics and current news with a generous dose of irreverence.

The show, with four well known personalities, airs twice a week on SABC3. The show, which reaches half a million viewers, has managed to increase its viewership with each episode.

Styled on the American daytime talk shows, Trending SA is a gathering of witty minds. Pabi Moloi mulls over topics and hashtags that trended during the day, while cheeky Kuli Roberts and comedian Nina Hastie give their own take on the topics. The only male member, political commentator Shaka Sisulu, has since left the show.

Hastie says: "I feel that Trending SA is something the country needs and humour obviously makes it easier to open up."

She quips that she can't believe she is getting paid to chill with Moloi who happens to be a close friend. Although more shows are coming to SABC3, Trending SA still ranks among one of the most watched by youngsters.

Founder and executive producer of the show, Thabo Pitso, said: "Social media platforms are the inspiration behind the show. We have an amazing panel that unpacks the highlights of the day according to what's trending."

He said Sisulu would not be replaced immediately but the show would invite relevant male guest presenter every week.
