Sanele Mkhize walks away from Idols SA a happy man.

The 21-year-old was the first casualty of the top- 10 stage of the Mzansi Magic reality show on Sunday night.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday before boarding a flight back home to Durban, Mkhize said he was at peace.

"I'm really happy in my life right now. I've achieved so much, I'm 21 and I made it to the top 10 of Idols. Being eliminated doesn't take away anything. I'm proud of how I handled the pressure."

He joked that the prize package worth R35000 had consoled him. Now Mkhize wants to establish himself in the industry and exploit the opportunities coming his way.

He said as a fellow KwaZulu-Natal resident he was rooting for Noma Khumalo as well as the boys Terra Cox and Keegan Martin, whom he said he got to know personally and learnt from.

Mkhize took this year as a gap year to pursue his childhood dream of being a singer.
