Kgomotso Christopher is set to make her Scandal! debut next week. But‚ talking to Tonight recently‚ she revealed that her role nearly didn’t happen.

Kgomotso will be appearing on TV screens from next Wednesday 30 June‚ where she will play the role of Naledi’s (played by Dineo Moeketsi) estranged mom‚ Yvonne.

But Kgomotso said that making sure she fitted the role took a bit of negotiating.

“A day before shooting the drama‚ Scandal! was looking for someone for a new role. They weren’t sure if I would be interested as I had just left a soapie. As soon as I saw the character bible‚ I went back and said‚ ‘I don’t think it’s going to work.’ So I actually turned it down‚” she told Tonight.

Kgomotso said that her biggest concern with the role was the age of the character.

“Katlego (her character on Isidingo) was already a bit older than I was. Yvonne is even older than her. I thought they were reaching here‚” she explained.

Luckily‚ Kgomotso and the Scandal! team were able to iron out a few details to make her character a bit more believable.

And now‚ as she prepares for her character’s introduction‚ she says that fans can look forward to slowly warming up to her character.

“We discover Yvonne in increments. That is how we are introducing the character‚” she added teasingly.
