For many‚ the sleepy town of Matatiele in the Eastern Cape holds little attraction. But the town is set to be the centre of attention next month when it celebrates two of its most famous sons.

Rapper Emtee and Bafana Bafana footballer Andile Jali are perhaps two of the most popular personalities to come from the dusty streets of Matatiele and the town has announced that it will honour the pair with a football tournament and concert next month.

The town will play host to the Andile Jali Football tournament in June‚ an event sponsored by the footballer himself.

“This is a way to say thank you to the community of Matatiela‚” Jali told KickOff recently. “I hope this tournament will also inspire other youngsters in my community to follow their dreams in football. “

Announcing his performance at the event in an Instagram post this week‚ Emtee wrote: “Coming home!“

Coming home!!!

The rapper reflected on his short stay in Matatiele in an interview with TMG Entertainment last month. Sent to the area for schooling as a 6-year-old boy‚ Emtee said he often used to listen to some of his favourite artists on the radio‚ but knew that he had to eventually leave the area in order to chase his dream of becoming a rapper.
