Performer Yasiin Bey‚ formerly called Mos Def‚ who is unable to leave South Africa pending a court hearing this month‚ has recorded a message to Scandinavian fans apologising for missing shows in Sweden and Denmark this week.

The message was recorded on Thursday in Cape Town‚ where the rapper and actor was arrested in January after he attempted to leave South Africa using a “world passport”.

Bey is out on bail pending a court case on May 12.

A track called “Dec. 99th – N.A.W.” appeared on Bey and Ferrari Sheppard’s A Country Called Earth platform on Friday. According to the site‚ the song was recorded at D Planet Studios in Cape Town.

Sheppard makes his debut as a producer on the song‚ and N.A.W. is thought to stand for “needs and wants“.

“F*** what you like‚ needs and wants‚ you got needs and wants/needs and wants‚” Bey sings over Sheppard’s droning production.

“I hope you got what you need and that you need what you waaaaaant.”
