DJ roughs up woman in club

Wat was meant to be a night of partying at one of Durban's upmarket clubs turned sour when DJ Dynasty allegedly hit a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

The Durban DJ is said to have hit the woman, who has only been identified as Nelly, in the mouth with a glass at nightclub 47Avenue's Party on Tuesday.

A friend of the victim, Nandipha Msomi, posted images of Nelly's bust lip on Twitter with the caption: "We left the club with blood all over my hands, a loose tooth and bust lip to go to the hospital."

A while later she posted another one saying they were back from the hospital with stitches.

The club's owner Kgolie Temba confirmed the assault on Nelly. "He wasn't DJing on the night, but was just around. Unfortunately the guy was drunk. We kicked him out after the incident," said Temba.

Temba told Sowetan he accompanied Nelly and Msomi to the hospital as well as the police to record a case against the DJ.

Comedian Trevor Gumbi on social media accused Durban clubs of supporting abuse, a claim Temba denied.
