'Last Comic Standing' judge Russell Peters accuses Trevor Noah of stealing jokes

Lin Xueling from the show 'Conversation With', sparked another controversy when she asked comedian Russell Peters whether he was jealous of Trevor Noah for getting Comedy Central's hosting gig and rubbed it in a bit more by pointing out that Noah is "cuter and skinnier" than him.

Peters denied being jealous but went on to accuse Noah of material theft.

"He's stolen material from David Kau, he's stolen material from myself," Peters continued. "You know, but whatever. That’s his gig now, and congratulations! [Laughs.] That’s all I can say."

Peter's dismissed Xueling's suggestion that the material was borrowed and argued that borrowing in the comedy industry is " like stealing somebody’s underwear and putting them on."

Noah was accused of stealing material by David Kau in 2012 but he addressed the allegation in an interview with Mahala in 2013.

"Nobody owns comedy, nobody owns a premise, nobody owns an idea...Comedy is your personal take on a thing. ... Like, half the jokes young black comedians are doing in America right now, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy were doing 20 years ago," said Noah.

Noah‚ 31‚ came under fire for posts he made on Twitter as far back as 2009 after he was named the new host of US satirical talk show‚ 'The Daily Show', last week.

Comedians Wanda Sykes,  Anthony Jeselnik, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Daniel Tosh from the forthcoming season of 'Last Comic Standing' supported Noah after the twitter uproar.

"People can heckle you from around the globe now, and they don't even have to come and be in front of you to do it," said Keenen Ivory Wayans.

Patton Oswalt also came to Noah's defence by tweeting a single joke followed up by a series of politically correct clarifications, going to extreme lengths to ensure nobody was offended by the joke.
