Umhlobo Wenene’s Saba ‘DJ Ntozabantwana’ Mbixane dies

Radio personality Saba ka Mbixane otherwise known as DJ Ntozabantwana has died.

Mbixane had been hospitalised at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha following a motorbike accident in which he sustained serious head injuries.

The SATMA Awards Facebook page paid tribute to Mbixane who played a great role in the promotion and celebration of traditional music.

“As SATMA Awards we are very disturb about the latest news regarding SABA Zaw Zaw Mbixane , Who has passed on this morning, SABA has won six SATMA's. Saba Mbixane was a champion of the SATMA's and As SATMA Awards we shall propose that he get a Provincial or National State Funeral as one of the great person that we have ever had in Radio Industry.

We are also going to visit the SABA Mbixane Family on Friday the 27th of February as SATMA Awards Team.

Lala Ngoxolo Zaw Zaw, You are a Hero, You Are a Man, You will always be in our memories and We Love You.”

Mbixane started presenting an African traditional music show 29 years ago and had six South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMAS) to his name. He started his career on Radio Transkei in the early 1980s.
