Fans who were looking forward to seeing stars such as Nicki Minaj, J Cole and D’ Banj have been left disappointed after the cancellation of the TribeOne Festival.

The event which was set to take place from the 26th to the 28th of September 2014 has been cancelled to due lack of preparation by the City of Tshwane (CoT), according to the organisers.

“Site preparation and related infrastructure development required to host the Festival, being the responsibility of the CoT, fell behind schedule to a material extent, such that it was no longer realistically possible to stage and deliver the festival to the scale and quality that the organizers had always planned.

Under the circumstances, and despite efforts to seek alternative arrangements, the organizers have had no option but to cancel the event,” the organisers said in a press statement.

The company tasked with promoting the event and handling the PR sent out this statement yesterday afternoon:

“This communication is to inform you that African Star communications will no longer be co-ordinating Public relations activities on The TribeOne Dinokeng Festival 2014 account.”

The event dubbed ‘Africa’s first mega music festival’ was set to feature a range of artists from all over the continent as well as headline acts such as US Hip hop act Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, J Cole and Kid Ink.

Organisers have promised to reimburse all ticket holders although details on the process were not immediately available.
