Duncan injects new-age sound to 90s jam

Rising to fame and not holding back, Kwa Mashu born rapper Siphamandla Duncan Mbambo sets the bar high with his new hit.

With smashing hits like Khayalami released last year, he is certainly no newbie to the game - and now he is turning up the rap scene with his new remix tune Tsiki Tsiki.

With his debut album titled Street Government coming out next month, one can only anticipate listening to the African sounds of hip hop brewed in Mzansi with no American agenda.

On talks about his album strictly representing the kasi life, Duncan says he worked with big dawgs in the music industry such as Pro, Big Nuz, Tira, Jazel Brothers, Professor, Kabomo, Red Button and AKA.

“The title of my album represents what I am rapping about. My lyrics speak to the hustler from kasi trying to succeed in life, the trouble makers who keep making the hood look bad.

“I made use of great collaborations with musicians who understand where I’m coming from and also aim to convey the same message.”

By sampling old kwaito 90s jam belonging to legend Mdu Masilela, Duncan has not only given it a  new age sound aka Mzansi hip hop but has also given rise to kasi vibes.

The 24 year old amused by the outcome of the song, says his intentions were to create a song that will take people back to ghetto days, where kwaito was street talk and the only lingo understood by many.

“Coming across people who like the song I am amazed that it is reaching the people, played on radio and loved by many,” Duncan says.
