Acapella group 'The Soil' just keep winning

Acapella group ‘The soil’ have put yet another feather in their cap after beating the competition to take the top prize at the White Nights in St Petersburg International festival in Russia.

The festival organisers handpicked the group earlier in the year to go and represent South Africa and participate as contestants.

The group managed to wow judges in the first round of the competition with their song Joy (We are family) and even earned a standing ovation.

Their amazing vocal abilities eventually led them to the first position ahead of 11 other countries.

“It is a great honour to be so well received in parts of the world that don’t even understand the language they use in certain parts of their songs, to be chosen as number one out of all the other talented groups that also entered the competition says it all,” the group’s Public Relations Officer Vusi Mahlangu said.

The group which is made up of Buhle Mda and brothers, Luphindo and Ntsika Ngxanga walked away with a trophy and $20 000.

The trio is currently in China to perform at the Nelson Mandela Birthday celebration and will be heading to the UK to perform at the Commonwealth games in Glasgow afterwards.

They will be travelling to Cape Town for their show on the 24th of August at Cape Town City Hall upon their return to SA

Their much awaited second album will feature Ladysmith Black Mambazo whom they recorded a single with on the the 6th of July 2014.
