Another feather in star Kholeka's cap

ONE of the most celebrated gospel music talents in the country will soon be able to trumpet her success in a different role.

Award-winning gospel music star Kholeka Sosibo will co-present a new gospel music show titled Icilongo on Mzansi Music alongside Apostle Steven Molakeng from next month. Molakeng is a member of Redeemed and a former presenter of Gospel Gold.

Sosibo confirmed her appointment to Sowetan and said she was not hand-picked by the producers but had to audition "like everyone".

"I give all glory to God, the one who gives me strength and the one who opens doors for me.

"I am nobody but he saw me fit to present. When I heard that there were auditions, I told myself that there was nothing to lose so I went and got the part," she said.

This will be her first TV presenting gig although she is an experienced voice-over artist.

Kholeka said she had to adjust quickly from being the interviewee to being the researcher and interviewer. She said the fact that she already knows many of the artists was a bonus.

The show is set to contest for Sunday morning audience ratings which have been dominated by the long-running SABC1 show, Gospel Gold, now in its 14th season.

Icilongo, which is Zulu for trumpet, is already being shot and is produced by The Chat Room presenter and former Isidingo actress Sarah Ngubeni.

Icilongo premieres on January 4 next year at 9am on Mzansi Music.
