According to The Wanted, 'Wrecking Ball' singer Miley Cyrus passed judgement on the group's twerking efforts, describing their attempts at the butt-shaking dance move as ''bizarre''.

The 'Glad You Came' hitmakers have claimed the 'Wrecking Ball' singer - who popularised the butt-shaking dance move and turned it into a global craze - passed judgement on their own attempts.

Max George told MTV News: ''Miley Cyrus said we were the dirtiest twerkers she'd ever seen.'' However, he was quickly corrected by Jay McGuiness, who insisted she described their take on the dance as ''bizarre''. Max agreed: ''Most bizarre, that was it. It wasn't sexy at all.'' At least the pair seemed to have an idea what 'twerking' is though - their band mate Nathan Sykes admitted it has passed him by so far.

He said: ''To be honest, I still don't know what it means.'' The Wanted aren't the only boy band to discuss the dance, with Harry Styles - one fifth of their rivals One Direction - recently giving his thoughts on the move after Miley performed a raunchy routine with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.

He previously insisted: ''I think it's quite inappropriate. Especially for the age groups that it's aimed at. ''I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity.''
