XITSONGA music legend Hlengani William Makhubele, who is at an advanced age of 79, is balancing his musical career with community work.

Makhubele, who is known as by his fans, is plodding on.

In 1987 Munghana Lonene FM conferred the Living Legend Award on the musician, honouring a career of nine albums in 30 years.

For the past three years, Makhubele has not recorded after parting ways with Gallo.

He is, however, performing at different venues with his band, Khohlwani Girls. Makhubele has composed many songs, including Nwana Wa Xikwembu (Xitsonga for son of God).
